Our educational systems are failing the youth of today when it comes to teaching english as the primary language. Evidence to that is results coming out of TX and the test numbers coming out of their schools are consistently below 50%! There is an alarming rate of dropouts for students that are faced with the challenge of learning english as a second language and the systems in place are failing them.
Are these deficiencies the failure of the school systems in place or is it something bigger than that. Consider this, the country as a whole has made a conscience effort in the last 10 years to enable spanish communication to be acceptable in every aspect of businesses and government. Call a customer service line and 9 times out of 10 there is a selection for what language you speak. Basic signs in public places are more frequently being placed with more than one language. (more…)
